I am Alrina Laker
Master Practitioner of Shamanic Energy Medicine. Lineage Carrier of the Munay-Ki Rites. Founder of Sacred Ember.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, working with individuals and leaders across the world.
Who I am today
I work at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern life, holding space for individuals and leaders who sense that something deeper is possible, and who are ready to stop searching outside themselves for what has always lived within.
Through the practice of Shamanic Energy Medicine, rooted in the Q'ero traditions of the Andes, I guide people through the kind of transformation that cannot be coached, strategised, or optimised. The work is simple in its purpose and profound in its impact, to help you release what no longer serves you, remember who you truly are, and step forward as the fullest, most sovereign expression of yourself.
This is the work of Sacred Ember. And it found me long before I found it.
What broke me open
My path into this work began not with a choice, but with a moment that shattered the life I thought I was living.
A car accident that, while deeply challenging, cracked something open in me that no amount of conventional healing could have reached. In the aftermath of that experience, I found myself standing at a threshold I didn't know existed, between the life I had been living and the life I was meant to walk.
It was the beginning of everything.
My first teacher
In the time that followed, I was guided, as so often happens, not by a person, but by an animal.
Xavier was a remarkable dog who became my soul companion and my first true teacher. She guided me gently and precisely toward self-acceptance, toward deeper connection, toward a way of seeing the world that I had never encountered before. Her love was the first medicine I received.
When Xavier passed, the grief was profound. But so was the gift she left behind, a doorway into animal communication, and through that, into a deeper understanding of our sacred connection to all living beings. She set my feet on the path. Everything that followed grew from the ground she prepared.
The path and the lineage
The path led me to sacred landscapes that would shape me profoundly, to the mountains of Mount Shasta in California, and to the vast, ancient silence of the Karoo in South Africa. In both places, something in me recognized what I had been moving toward all along.
I trained with The Four Winds Society under the guidance of world-renowned anthropologist and shamanic teacher Dr Alberto Villoldo, completing my Masters in Shamanic Energy Medicine in the Q'ero tradition of the Andes. This lineage, ancient, rigorous, and transformative, is the root system of everything I offer.
I am also a Lineage Carrier of the Munay-Ki Rites, nine rites of initiation that transmit the energetic seeds of the new human being we are becoming. Carrying and transmitting these rites is among the most sacred privileges of my work.
My foundation includes training as a Master-level Reiki Practitioner, and my earliest calling, animal communication, remains woven into the cosmology and teaching of Sacred Ember. Our animal allies are sacred guides and teachers, and their wisdom is present throughout this work.
The bridge, my corporate background
Before this path found me, I spent years in the corporate world, navigating the pressures, the politics, the pace, and the very human challenges that live inside every organization regardless of its size or success.
That experience never left me. And I have come to understand that it was not separate from my medicine path, it was preparation for it.
I know what it feels like to sit in those rooms. To make decisions that affect many lives. To lead under pressure with more questions than answers. To sense that something essential is missing from the way we work and lead, and not yet have the language or the tools to name it.
That knowing is what I bring into every engagement with a leader or an organization. I am not a consultant. I am not a strategist. But I understand your world, and I have found something that reaches into it in ways that strategy alone never can.
What I believe
I believe that the Sacred Ember, the fire of your truest self, is never lost. It is simply waiting to be ignited.
I believe that real transformation is not about becoming someone new. It is about remembering who you have always been — beneath the conditioning, the performance, the accumulated weight of a life lived largely for others.
I believe in Ayni, the Andean principle of sacred reciprocity and harmony with all life. When we come into right relationship with ourselves, everything around us begins to shift. Our relationships, our leadership, our capacity to hold others. The outer world changes because the inner world has changed first.
And I believe in Showing Up. Not perfectly. Not without fear. But honestly, consistently, and with the willingness to meet whatever is true in this moment, and to work with it rather than around it.
This is the philosophy at the heart of Sacred Ember. It is how I work. And it is what I ask of every person who chooses to walk this path with me.
Who I work with and what becomes possible
I work with individuals who sense that something within them wants to change, who have tried the conventional answers and found them wanting, and who are ready to go deeper than they have gone before.
I work with leaders and organizations who want to bring the human back into a world that has forgotten it, who carry the weight of their role with integrity and are ready to lead from a place of genuine inner authority rather than performance or pressure.
And I work with those who are called to walk the path of the medicine themselves, to carry these teachings forward and offer them to others.
Whoever you are and however you arrived here, if something in you recognizes this work, that recognition is worth listening to.
